German carmaker Audi is now getting ready to take the covers off the 2023 Audi e-tron. The carmaker has showcased the 2023 e-tron facelift at the E-Cannonball event in Hamburg, Germany.
The 2023 Audi e-tron is
expected to bring subtle changes to its exterior design. More significant upgrades could come in the form of a new battery pack and upgraded electric powertrain, resulting in improved range.
Talking about the exterior design, the 2023 Audi e-tron will feature a re-designed front fascia with a new bumper, reshaped grille, and tweaked headlights and taillights. The new e-tron will also get re-designed alloy wheels.
Moving on to the interior, the cabin layout is expected to remain identical but might get new features and tweaks on the dashboard. The upcoming e-tron is expected to get a 10.1-inch infotainment system and inch driver and 12.3 -inch digital cockpit.
Now talking about the big
update, the 2023 Audi e-tron is expected to get a bigger battery pack and tuned electric motors. The updated battery pack is expected to offer a range of over 600 kms in one full charge.
Audi currently sells the e-tron in two different battery packs: 71kWh and 95kWh, with a WLTP-certified travel range of up to 379km and 484km.
When will it come
to India?
There are no any official statements from the company yet. However, We expect Audi India to launch the face-lifted e-tron in India sometime in 2023.
At the E-Cannonball in Hamburg, Audi unveiled a new prototype of the facelifted e-tron. The German carmaker did not share too much further information about the facelift, but rumors suggest that the all-electric SUV could be renamed Q8 e-tron to make its position in the Audi line-up clearer.
The Changes in Design are Slim but Recognizable
Adui
At the premiere, the SUV was covered in special camouflage. Orange accents guide the eyes to the parts of the car where the design has been changed. At the front, you can see an updated grille that is more distinguished from its surroundings and redesigned lateral air curtains. Furthermore, Audi promises updated headlights with new light innovations but without any changes in overall design. The same applies to the sideline which looks just like before. In the back, we can see a new rear bumper and diffuser with an integrated e-tron badge. They are joined by updated taillights.
What Could Change in Terms of Power and Performance?
Audi
According to recent reports, the e-tron SUV could get more efficient electric motors. Moreover, we expect an upgrade for the battery pack and the energy recovery system. These improvements could increase the range of the e-tron significantly from the current rating of 273 miles [440 kilometers] to approximately 373 miles [600 kilometers].
The current base model of the e-tron in the United States features a dual-motor all-wheel drive system to produce up to 402 horsepower [300 kilowatts] and 496 pound-feet [673 Newton-meters] of torque. With these ingredients and a 95-kWh battery pack, the e-tron reaches 62 mph [100 km/h] in 5.5 seconds and accelerates to a top speed of 124 mph [200 km/h]. While you should not expect a bigger battery pack, the efficiency of the battery could rise. Furthermore, the electric motor should get a modest increase in power while functioning more efficiently too.
The e-tron S features very similar specifications to the base model but makes up to 496 horsepower [370 kilowatts] and 718 pound-feet of torque [973 Newton-meters]. Therefore, the SUV accelerates to 62 mph [100 km/h] in just 4.5 seconds. The facelift could improve these numbers too.
An Outlook on the Future of the E-Tron
Audi
Currently, the base e-tron starts at $70,800. For the facelift, we expect at least a slight price bump to around $73,000. The facelifted e-tron is supposed to keep the model fresh for another three to four years until the successor arrives. In 2026, the Audi Q8 e-tron will be finally unveiled and will replace the e-tron.
