How much will the 2024 Silverado cost?

Price: We expect the price of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV in base WT trim to start at approximately $39,900. The range-topping RST First Edition will have a sticker price of around $105,000.

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV marks a bold and exciting new chapter for America’s best-selling type of vehicle. To put it simply, we like big trucks and we cannot lie.

Pitted against the upcoming Ford F-150 Lightning, not to mention rival EV trucks from the likes of Tesla Motors and Rivian, the Silverado EV delivers more than 400 miles of range, has 4-wheel drive (4WD) fitted on all variants, and comes standard with DC fast-charging capability.

According to Chevrolet, using DC fast charging allows the Silverado EV to add about 100 miles of range in only 10 minutes. That’s music to the ears of first-trim electric truck shoppers worried their vehicle won’t be up to the task of getting a long drive or hard job accomplished.

Available only in crew cab form, the Silverado EV has the typical upright stance of a full-size pickup truck. But the front end has been designed to direct airflow around the sides of the truck to improve aerodynamics and, ultimately, improve performance and driving range.

Every Silverado EV is motivated by two electric motors and rides on General Motor’s new Ultium platform, which has been designed from the ground up as for electric vehicles (EVs). This allows for greater flexibility when it comes to fitting larger battery packs, not to mention cool features like the eTrunk, a handy weatherproof front-mounted trunk.

The Silverado EV also features a movable midgate, a split-folding wall separating the cargo bed from the tailgate. This feature was last used on the discontinued Chevrolet Avalanche, but it makes a surprise reappearance to help make the Silverado EV more capable when it comes to hauling long and bulky gear.

Speaking of capability, the towing capacity of the Silverado EV will initially range from 8,000 pounds in the WT, upward to 10,000 pounds in the RST. At some point, Chevrolet has promised an upcoming variant with a max towing capacity of 20,000 pounds is due to join the lineup.

Straight-line speed shouldn’t be an issue, either. Chevrolet has said the WT version has the equivalent of 510 horsepower, while the RST offers a grand total of 664 horsepower. As more models and trims are added to the Silverado EV lineup, expect a greater amount of hardware geared for all-terrain driving, such as chunkier off-road tires, underbody skid plates, limited-slip differentials, and perhaps a toughened version of the adaptive air suspension (offered at launch only on the RST trim).

The cabin of the Silverado EV is filled with screens and has a cavernous amount of storage space between the two front seats. Given its substantial price, the RST has the screen acreage advantage with a 17-inch infotainment screen complemented by an 11-inch digital instrument display – not to mention a 14-inch head-up display.

The RST also comes standard with the Multi-Flex Tailgate to make loading and unloading its 5-foot-11-inch cargo bed that much easier.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV Pricing

Look for the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV in basic WT trim to have a starting price of $39,900 when the first models arrive in spring 2023.

This version is targeted at fleet buyers, truck shoppers who care more about the WT’s up to 400 miles of driving range and 8,000-pound towing capacity.

For all the bells and whistles with this same degree of range, the RST First Edition is expected to cost approximately $105,000 when it arrives later in 2023. Loaded with about everything you can add to this electric truck, the RST is packed with features like a 17-inch infotainment screen, enormous 24-inch alloys wheels, Multi-Flex Tailgate, and an adaptive air suspension.

This wide price gap between the WT and RST models will eventually be filled as Chevrolet expands the Silverado EV with additional trims.

KBB Vehicle Review and Rating Methodology

Our Expert Ratings come from hours of both driving and number crunching to make sure that you choose the best car for you. We comprehensively experience and analyze every new SUV, car, truck, or minivan for sale in the U.S. and compare it to its competitors. When all that dust settles, we have our ratings.

We require new ratings every time an all-new vehicle or a new generation of an existing vehicle comes out. Additionally, we reassess those ratings when a new-generation vehicle receives a mid-cycle refresh — basically, sprucing up a car in the middle of its product cycle (typically, around the 2-3 years mark) with a minor facelift, often with updates to features and technology.

Rather than pulling random numbers out of the air or off some meaningless checklist, KBB’s editors rank a vehicle to where it belongs in its class. Before any car earns its KBB rating, it must prove itself to be better (or worse) than the other cars it’s competing against as it tries to get you to spend your money buying or leasing.

Our editors drive and live with a given vehicle. We ask all the right questions about the interior, the exterior, the engine and powertrain, the ride and handling, the features, the comfort, and of course, about the price. Does it serve the purpose for which it was built? (Whether that purpose is commuting efficiently to and from work in the city, keeping your family safe, making you feel like you’ve made it to the top — or that you’re on your way — or making you feel like you’ve finally found just the right partner for your lifestyle.)

We take each vehicle we test through the mundane — parking, lane-changing, backing up, cargo space and loading — as well as the essential — acceleration, braking, handling, interior quiet and comfort, build quality, materials quality, reliability.
