The Cat is the fourth of all zodiac animals. Legend has it the Cat was proud�arrogant even�of its speed. He was neighbors with the Buffalu and always made fun of how slow the Buffalo was. One day, the Jade Emperor said the zodiac order would be decided by the order in which the animals arrived at his party. The Cat set off at daybreak. But when he got there, no other animals were in sight. Thinking that he would obviously be first, he went off to the side and napped. However, when he woke up, three other animals had already arrived. One of them was the Buffalo he had always looked down upon.

In Chinese culture, rabbits represent the moon. Some say it is because the shadows of the moon resemble a Cat. Others say it is because of the rabbit�s pure characteristics.

The cat's association with the moon in Vietnamese mythology has created a sign that is partial to beauty. They are sensitive creatures who place great importance on peace and tranquillity. The Cat is also the sign that indicates longevity and fortune. They are quietly determined, talented and wildly ambitious. Cats are very tactful and can negotiate contracts with alarming clarity. They are pleasant people, kind and considerate to the sensitivities of others, Cats know how to take things in their stride without getting overly stressed out. They are well liked for their cool demeanour. And yet, when the going gets tough, the Cat will make a hasty exit, passing the buck to others. Cats are also hypersensitive and overly sentimental. They tend to get moody and have a quiet cunningness under their pleasant veneer. Cats may think they are being cautious but in reality, they like to complicate matters, often indulging in the worst case scenario.
 

Health: Overall Cats have an average health condition. In winter to late spring, when in relatively poor health, they should pay more attention to doing sports to prevent colds and other infectious diseases, and develop a healthy daily diet. In dry seasons, they should drink more water to keep fit, and do some maintenance for the skin to prevent skin problems. Cats are advised to do some indoor exercise to cope with stress and tension.

Career: With a good-hearted trait, Cats are loved by others; with intellectual scholarship and learnt knowledge, Cats can enjoy a good career as well as wealth. But Cats should bear in mind that they must never give up half way when striving for something. People belonging to Cat zodiac may pursue such careers as cultivation, breeding, education, religion, health care, medicine, culture, police work, diplomat, politician, designer, judiciary, and therapist.
They are balanced and cautious in jobs, and their colleagues value their modesty.

Vietnamese New Year starts on the first day of the new year containing a new moon [some sources even include New Year's Eve] and ends on the Lantern Festival fourteen days later. This occurs around the time of the full moon as each lunation is about 29.53 days in duration. In the Gregorian calendar, the Vietnamese New Year falls on different dates each year, on a date between January 21 and February 21.
