The Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers were all seen as the NFC favorites prior to Philadelphia taking over after Week 4.
The Houston Texans have the worst odds to win Super Bowl 57.
Here are some more notes on the movement of the top contenders for Super Bowl 57:
- [November 20] The Cowboys became a top five Super Bowl contender after hammering the Vikings on the road in Week 11. The win resulted in their odds going from +1400 to +1000.
- [November 14] After suffering their first loss of the season in Week 10, the Eagles’ Super Bowl odds faded from +500 to +650. Both were third-best at the time.
- [November 13] Even after being upset by the Vikings, marking back-to-back losses for Buffalo, the Bills remain the favorites to win the Super Bowl. Their odds did worsen from +280 to +375, though.
- [November 6] The Buffalo Bills remain the favorites to win the Super Bowl after losing to the Jets in Week 9. Their odds did fade a little, though, going from +230 to +270.
- [October 30] The Packers’ Super Bowl odds have faded from +3500 to +5000 after their loss to Buffalo in Week 8.
- [October 23] The Buccaneers and Packers both suffered awful losses in Week 7, as Tampa Bay lost to the Panthers and Green Bay to the Commanders. The Bucs’ Super Bowl odds have faded from +1300 to +1800, which still ties them for the sixth-best odds on the board, while the Packers went from +2200 to +2800.
- [October 20] The San Francisco 49ers’ Super Bowl odds improved from +1800 to +1400 after they acquired star running back Christian McCaffrey from the Panthers. The 49ers have the fifth-best odds to win the Super Bowl after the trade, jumping over the Vikings for the third-best odds among NFC teams.
- [October 16] The Bills’ odds to win the Super Bowl have improved from +350 to +280 after Buffalo got a win in Kansas City in Week 6. All of Tampa Bay, Green Bay, Baltimore, and San Francisco lost as big favorites in Week 6. But only the Packers and Ravens saw their Super Bowl odds significantly fade – both went from +1400 to +2000.
- [October 9] The Packers’ Super Bowl odds have faded from +1000 to +1400 after losing to the Giants in London. Dallas’ odds improved from +2500 to +1800 after they picked up another win, with this one coming over the Rams in Week 5.
- [October 2] The Eagles now have the best Super Bowl odds among NFC teams after beating the Jaguars to extend their perfect start to 4-0. Philadelphia’s odds improved from +900 to +750. The Broncos have seen their odds take a hit, going from +2200 to +3000 after losing to the Raiders.
- [September 25] Despite losing to the Dolphins in Week 3, the Bills remain heavy favorites to win Super Bowl 57. Their odds only faded from +400 to +450. Miami’s odds to win the Super Bowl have improved from +2500 to +1600. With the Buccaneers also losing, the Eagles are now tied with Tampa Bay for the best Super Bowl odds among NFC teams.
- [September 20] The Bills and Eagles both posted very impressive wins on Monday night of Week 2. Buffalo’s Super Bowl odds continued to steadily to improve, going from +475 to +400, while the Eagles now have the fourth-best odds to win the Super Bowl.
- [September 18] With Trey Lance done for the season, the 49ers’ Super Bowl odds actually improved from +2500 to +2000 after Jimmy Garoppolo led them to a win over the Seahawks. Miami’s huge comeback win over the Ravens resulted in their odds going from +3000 to +2500. Meanwhile, a couple teams we thought were true contenders have seen their Super Bowl odds begin to plummet: the Bengals faded from +2500 to +3500 as they start 0-2 following their major upset loss at the hands of the Cooper Rush-led Cowboys; and the Colts getting shutout in Jacksonville sees their odds go from +3000 to +4000.
- [September 11] After beating up on the Cardinals in Week 1, the Chiefs’ Super Bowl odds have improved from +1100 to +800. Green Bay’s Super Bowl odds only went from +1200 to +1500 following their ugly loss to the Vikings. Minnesota went from +4000 to +2500 with the win. San Francisco’s odds moved a little more after their loss to the Bears, going from +1600 to +2200.
- [September 7] The Buffalo Bills’ Super Bowl odds continue improving ahead of their NFL season-opener against the defending champion LA Rams. Buffalo’s odds to win the Super Bowl are now as short as +550, giving them a nice cushion over the Buccaneers, who have the second-best odds at +750. The Eagles and Raiders have also seen their odds shorten ahead of kickoff.
- [August 18] The NFL has announced an 11-game suspension for Browns QB Deshaun Watson. Cleveland’s Super Bowl odds were once as short as +1800 after acquiring Watson from the Texans, but have now faded as long as +4000.
- [April 29] The Tennessee Titans traded away star receiver AJ Brown during the first-round of the 2022 NFL Draft, sending him to the Philadelphia Eagles. Tennessee’s Super Bowl odds faded from +2500 to +3000, while Philadelphia’s improved from +5000 to +4000. Some sportsbooks have the Eagles as short as +3500 after the trade. No movement was seen from the Cardinals trading for Marquise Brown from the Ravens. The Steelers’ odds to win the Super Bowl improved slightly, from +8000 to +6000, after drafting Kenny Pickett in the first round.
- [March 23] This absolutely insane NFL offseason continues, as the Chiefs have agreed to trade Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins for a package of five draft picks, including their first-round pick in 2022. The move has resulted in the Chiefs’ odds going from +850 to +900, and the Dolphins have improved slightly from +7000 to +4000. Miami remains long shots in spite of having incredible speed at the wide receiver position.
- [March 21] The Indianapolis Colts have acquired Matt Ryan from the Falcons, replacing Carson Wentz under center and marking their sixth straight year with a new starting quarterback for Week 1. The Colts’ Super Bowl odds saw some improvement from the move, but not a ton, going from +3000 to +2500. The Falcons’ odds have faded from +6000 to +10000, putting them among the likes of the Giants and Bears.
- [March 18] In a surprise turn of events, Deshaun Watson has chosen the Cleveland Browns as the team he will waive his no-trade clause to be dealt to Cleveland. The Browns’ Super Bowl odds have improved from +4000 to +2000 with the move, with the early reports saying Cleveland will give up three first-round picks and then two more mid-round picks. Cleveland is now a top ten Super Bowl contender based on the betting odds at the moment. New Orleans and Atlanta, the two teams believed to be the preferred destinations for Watson, see their odds fade dramatically as they miss out on a new QB.
- [March 17] Green Bay’s Super Bowl odds have not moved much after agreeing to trade star receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders. The Packers went from +1100 to +1200 to win the Super Bowl. Las Vegas’ odds only improved from +6000 to +5000. With the Chargers adding star corner JC Jackson in free agency and trading for Khalil Mack, their Super Bowl odds have steadily improved from +2000 to +1600. Their movement has caused Denver’s odds to win the Super Bowl to fade a little too. New Orleans has seen major movement, going from +5000 to +1800, thanks to the Saints appearing to be the front-runners to acquire Texans QB Deshaun Watson. The Falcons have also seen their odds go from +8000 to +3000 while they remain the other team in the Watson sweepstakes.
- [March 13] Tom Brady has announced he will be unretiring and returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2022-23 NFL season. Tampa Bay’s Super Bowl odds had gotten as long as +2800 with Brady believed to be gone. But the Bucs’ odds to win Super Bowl 57 are now as short as +750 at DraftKings, tied for the second-best odds on the board at that sportsbook. If you’re looking to bet the Bucs, you’ll want to do it at Caesars Sportsbook, where they can still be found at +1000 odds.
- [March 8] The Green Bay Packers’ Super Bowl odds improved from +1500 to +1000 after Aaron Rodgers announced he will be returning to the team on a four-year, $200 million deal. The Packers are now given the best odds to win the Super Bowl among NFC teams, surpassing the Rams today. The Denver Broncos also saw their Super Bowl odds improve, going from +2200 to +1400, thanks to a blockbuster trade that sees them acquire Russell Wilson from the Seahawks in exchange for multiple first-round picks and Drew Lock. The Broncos are now tied for the fifth-best odds to win the Super Bowl. After trading Wilson away, the Seahawks’ Super Bowl odds faded from +4000 to +7500.
- [February 13] The LA Rams won the 2022 Super Bowl, but did not see any notable line movement for 2023 from it.
- [February 10] With Tom Brady announcing his retirement, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers saw their 2023 Super Bowl odds plummet from +1000 to +2200. They remain among the top ten contenders for now, but could quickly fall out if they are unable to bring in a quality quarterback or retain some key free agents. The Denver Broncos saw their Super Bowl odds improve from +3500 to +2000 after naming Nathaniel Hackett, Green Bay’s former offensive coordinator, their new head coach, which has brought on even more Aaron Rodgers to Denver speculation.
- [January 24] Early Super Bowl 57 odds have opened with the Kansas City Chiefs once again being listed as the favorites. This is their fourth straight season opening as the Super Bowl favorites. The Buffalo Bills opened with the second-best Super Bowl odds, while the Packers and Buccaneers are tied for the best odds among NFC teams at +1000.

2023 Super Bowl Favorites
The early favorites to win Super Bowl 57 do not include either the reigning champions, the LA Rams, or the AFC champs, the Cincinnati Bengals. Instead, the list is headed by the Buffalo Bills [+650], Tampa Bay Buccaneers [+750], and Kansas City Chiefs [+1000].
Buffalo Bills
The Bills’ hard-luck Super Bowl history is well-known, but oddsmakers view their 0-4 Super Bowl record as ancient history heading into the 2022-23 season. Buffalo finished last season 11-6, which was only third-best in the AFC, but owned an NFL-best +194 point differential. They also made significant upgrades to their league-best defense in the offseason, adding Von Miller and re-acquiring Shaq Lawson, among other moves.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa’s Super Bowl odds took a hit when Tom Brady retired early in the offseason, and then immediately rebounded when he unretired 40 days later. Coming off a 13-4 season, the Bucs narrowly missed out on the NFC’s lone bye [the 13-4 Packers owned a better intra-conference record]. They didn’t make big offseason acquisition – edge rusher Akiem Hicks being the most notable – but with Brady back at the helm, oddsmakers are still giving the Bucs ample respect.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs are coming off a solid 12-5 season in which they tied with the Titans for best record in the AFC [but lost the #1 seed due to head-to-head record with Tennessee]. The offense will be somewhat different with Tyreek Hill now in Miami, but Patrick Mahomes is still under center with Travis Kelce anchoring the receiving corps, which is a tandem arguably 31 other teams would trade for.
Super Bowl Trends
Here are some Super Bowl trends to consider before placing any wagers:
- The AFC has won five of the last eight Super Bowls
- The Patriots, Broncos, or Chiefs have represented the AFC in eight of the last nine Super Bowls; Cincinnati broke the streak in 2022
- The New England Patriots have represented the AFC in four of the last eight Super Bowls, winning three of them
- The AFC’s top seed has advanced to the Super Bowl in six of the last nine seasons; the no. 2 seed has advanced in two of the last four seasons
- From 2004 to 2019, the starting quarterback for the AFC was either Tom Brady [8], Peyton Manning [4], or Ben Roethlisberger [3] in 15 of the 16 Super Bowls. Joe Flacco was the only other AFC QB to start a Super Bowl in that span. It has now been Patrick Mahomes in two of the last three seasons.
- The Seattle Seahawks are the only NFC team to appear in back-to-back Super Bowls [Super Bowls 48 & 49] since the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowls 31 & 32
- The NFC North has not represented the NFC in the Super Bowl since SB 45 [Green Bay]
- Five of the last nine NFC teams to play in the Super Bowl were the top seed in the conference – Atlanta in Super Bowl 51, Los Angeles in Super Bowl 53, Tampa Bay in Super Bowl 55, and Los Angeles in Super Bowl 56 were not
- The NFC West has sent a team to the Super Bowl in six of the last ten years

Here are some fun Super Bowl facts:
- Only one team in the AFC South has ever won a Super Bowl: the Indianapolis Colts. All seven other divisions have at least two Super Bowl-winning teams.
- Since moving back to Oakland [from Los Angeles] in 1995, the franchise has not won a Super Bowl and has only made the playoffs five times in those 27 years. The move to Las Vegas has changed their luck a little, as they made the 2022 NFL playoffs.
- The NFC East is the only division where every team has won a Super Bowl.
- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers became the only team to win a home Super Bowl in 2021. Tom Brady led the Bucs to a victory in Super Bowl 56, which was played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida. But the LA Rams followed suit in 2022, winning Super Bowl 56 at SoFi Stadium, which is where they played their home games all season.
- The Buffalo Bills were the last non-Patriots AFC East team to play in a Super Bowl, dating back to the 1993 season [Super Bowl 28] when they lost in their fourth consecutive appearance.
