What kind of relationship exist between strategic planning and performance management?


Knowledge management has emerged important field that captured an attention of research scholar in the field of management as KM promulgated important source of competitive advantage. The basic purpose of the study is to explore conceptual linkage between knowledge management and organization’s strategy formulation and competitive advantage. Detailed literature is reviewed to find out conceptual linkage between knowledge management, strategy formulation and competitive advantage. We used resources based view approach to link strategy and competitive advantage as a lens. This research would be fruitful for managers to understand strategic importance of knowledge, knowledge management and knowledge strategy to attain sustainable competitive advantage.

In 21st century the business knowledge and intellectual capital are viable source for competitive advantage in business world as organizations are facing major challenges, they have to show their best outcomes with efficiency. The transformation from manufacturing context to knowledge economy requires organizations to exploit on value addition from intellectual capital to prosper in the competitive world (Roos et al, 2005). Theory plus past practices indicate that organization is a business entity, the significant performance create uniqueness in significant manner. Human Capital has substantial influence on organizational efficiency and also for the success of the firms. The purpose of this research is to establish a relationship between strategic management with high level of intellectual capital that enhance organization high performance that is based on knowledge based dynamic capabilities. It examines the systematic relationship of these two models. The development of unified systematic model is high performance oriented and create potential for organizations, as well as for wealth creation. The results specify that high level of intellectual capital positively affect the organization performance with strategic management process. IC mediate the relationship between strategic management process and organization high performance. The findings suggest that organization high performance is dependent upon strategic management process with high level of Intellectual capital. Correct and timely decision making capabilities facilitate organization in effective manner.

The study was seeking to establish effect of information and communication technologies on competitiveness of manufacturing (SMEs) in Thika, Kiambu County: Kenya. This was achieved through the following objectives: examining how e-inventory management affects the competitiveness of SMEs traders at Thika; determining how e-marketing affects competitiveness of SMEs traders at Thika and identifying how e-customer relationship management affects the competitiveness of SMEs traders in Thika. A survey research design was employed on sample SMEs Traders through the use of questionnaires to collect primary data. The collected data was analyzed through descriptive statistics mainly to summarize the data. This will include percentages and frequencies. Tables and other graphs were used as appropriate to present the data collected for ease of understanding. The questionnaire technique was used to obtain information from the respondents through simple random methods of administering them. Kothari (2004) observes that a questionnaire is good for research studies as they enable a researcher to collect more information which is not directly observable. The questions in the questionnaire were both structured (closed ended questions) and open ended questions for the purposes of eliciting more in-depth qualitative information and quantitative information. The selection of these tools was informed by time available and the objectives of the study. Based on the empirical evidences and results of the analysis, the researcher arrived at logical conclusions. The researcher concludes that there is a positive relationship between all the independent variables under study and competitiveness. This position was clearly shown through the inference statistics which confirmed the existence of a significance level or the P values which were less than confidence level of confidence.

Business organizations, government agencies and educational institutions consider strategic information system planning (SISP) as an important element for improving their organizational performance. Over the years, SISP has seen much change not only in terms of its meaning but also its emphasis. More specifically, the literature indicates minimal emphasis on its evolution as a discipline of study and field of practice. Based on the literature and previous studies, this paper reviews the concept of SISP, its definitions and stages of development.

With investigating the knowledge role and its importance on organization's performance, it can be understood that using knowledge and information has converted to an unavoidable necessity for the survival of organizations. Investigating the process of knowledge development in contemporary society shows that today's mega industrial society is an informational where increasing energy technologies are gradually giving their place to increasing knowledge technologies. So addressing the knowledge basis topics such as knowledge management and its related components seems necessary for organization's performance improvement. This main question is discussed in this study that if there is a significant relationship between knowledge management and organizational innovation and if these two components are effective on organization's performance. Sub-hypotheses in this study, investigate the relationship between considered aspects and organizational performance with expanding related components with knowledge management and organizational innovation. The goal of this study is proposing a strategy for improving organization's performance based on knowledge management components and organizational innovation. The methodology is functional in terms of goal and descriptive-correlation in terms of collecting data. For collecting data the number of 140 people of staffs, managers and assistants of tax affairs organization of Yazd were selected as sample size. The collecting data tools were questionnaires in this research which 3 questionnaires were used here. For analyzing data, descriptive statistics and inferential are used such as KS test, Pearson correlation and simple and multi linear regression. The results of this study show that organizational innovation have constantly significant relationship with organizational performance and only the factor of administrative innovation is not effective on organizational performance, knowledge management also have positive significant relationship with organizational innovation and organization's performance and its affects such as gaining knowledge, creating it and transferring knowledge affect organizational performance. Mentioned organization using the obtained results of this study can have more accurate planning for improving its performance in future and this organization is recommended that by paying more attention to aspects of administrative innovation, knowledge function and recording knowledge, strength these aspects and promotes its performance due to these components.
