The Hyundai Palisade is one of the best-selling offerings in the mid-size three-row SUV segment and has been considered one of the go-to monikers for family buyers. Being part of the same first generation which came to the United States market back in 2020, the 2023 Hyundai Palisade retains the DNA of the older model years while adding a few more features, packages, and trim level changes.

Offered for a base selling price of $34,950, this Hyundai comes in five trim configurations including a brand new XRT trim. This 2023 model year gets a revamped exterior design, a few more interior and exterior features, and an upgraded infotainment system. However, the 3.8-liter V6 motor remains unchanged, and acceleration and towing capacity numbers remain identical to the older model. Competing with the Kia Telluride, Honda Pilot, and Dodge Durango, here are 10 things you need to know before buying the 2023 Hyundai Palisade.

10/10 Plenty Of Standard Driver-Assistance Tech

Like the older model years of the Hyundai Palisade, this 2023 model also comes loaded with all the safety and driver-assistance features as standard. This includes automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode.

The basic safety features like reverse camera, parking sensors, ABS with EBD, airbags, traction control, stability control, and tire pressure monitoring system are onboard too. Even though the 2023 model hasn't been crash-tested by both the NHTSA and IIHS yet, the 2022 model year received top-notch ratings in both crash tests.

9/10 Value For Money Proposition

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade can be had for a base MSRP of $34,950 and that makes it an excellent value proposition for the mid-size SUV segment. Even the base SE trim comes loaded with many features like a 12.3" infotainment system, navigation, LED headlights with LED DRLs, a 360-degree camera, and Bluelink-connected car services.

In comparison, the base trims of the rivals like the Dodge Durango and Honda Pilot miss out on many of these features. Get the higher trims of the Palisade and you would be impressed with even more features. The pricing remains very competitive too. The optional features and packages are well priced as well.

8/10 Spacious Cabin

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade can be had in either 7-seater or 8-seater configurations depending on the trim that you opt for. Nevertheless, both configurations offer decently comfortable and spacious seating for both the front and mid-row passengers with one of the best headroom, legroom, and shoulder room.

The third-row seating is not going to be very comfortable for the taller folks owing to the mediocre legroom. However, the headroom and shoulder room tops the chart. With all the seats up, the 2023 Hyundai Palisade offers 18 cu ft of space. The space can be extended to 45.8 cu ft with the third row folded down.

7/10 Quirky Exterior Design

The exterior design has seen a slight revamp and the majority of the changes reside in the front fascia. For this 2023 model year, the Palisade comes with a cascading grille design which makes it look bolder and sharper. The eye catchy LED headlights and the chrome accents also add to the character.

Go to the side of the 2023 Hyundai Palisade and you would be pleased with the all-new 20" alloy wheel design. The sharp character lines, subtle fender flares, and silver roof rails remain unchanged. The new XRT trim gives off a more rugged design language as well. The rear end gets LED taillights, neat Palisade badging, and a dual exhaust system.

6/10 Long List Of Updates For The 2023 Model Year

Even though the pricing of the 2023 Hyundai Palisade doesn't see a drastic change from the outgoing model year, Hyundai has managed to shove in a long list of upgrades. This includes a facelifted design that looks more mature than the 2022 model. The alloy wheel design has also seen an update.

Another major upgrade lies in the center console as the 2023 Hyundai Palisade gets an updated 12" high-resolution touchscreen infotainment system. A modern steering wheel design, Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity, and heated third-row seats are offered too. The rugged XRT trim is onboard and is the new mid-spec trim of the lot.

5/10 Intuitive Infotainment System

The all-new 12" touchscreen infotainment replaces 8" and 10.3" infotainment in the older model and the interface is one of the finest in the segment. The long list of standard connectivity and entertainment features includes Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM radio, navigation, voice recognition, and Bluetooth.

With the impressive Bluelink connected car services offered as standard for all the five trim configurations, the 2023 Hyundai Palisade can be locked, unlocked, and started with the help of Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The higher trims come with a punchy 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system as well.

4/10 Impressive Warranty Coverage

Like any other Hyundai or Kia products that are sold in the United States market, the warranty coverage of the 2023 Hyundai Palisade can only be rivaled by its sibling Kia Telluride. The limited warranty is for 5 years or 60,000 miles and the powertrain warranty is for 10 years or 100,000 miles.

Along with that, the 2023 Hyundai Palisade gets complimentary maintenance coverage for 3 years or 36,000 miles as well. The 2023 model year received no recalls and customer complaints according to the NHTSA and JD Power gave the older 2022 Palisade an overall consumer rating of 81 out of 100.

3/10 Torquey V6 Motor

Hyundai Palisade Rear Gray OffroadHyundai

The 3.8-liter naturally aspirated GDI V6 motor mated to the 8-speed SHIFTRONIC torque converter automatic transmission punched out a respectable 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. The power is put down through the FWD or AWD drivetrain depending upon the trim configurations.

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade offers a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs. It managed to do the 0-60 MPH in 6.8 seconds and the quarter-mile run in 15.1 seconds. This makes the 2023 Palisade slightly faster than the Dodge Durango.

2/10 Decent Fuel Efficiency

With no forced induction and mild-hybrid assist on board, the fuel efficiency of the 2023 Hyundai Palisade isn't as good as some of the segment rivals. If you opt for the FWD variant, the Palisade offers 19 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highways.

The combined gas mileage of 22 MPG is identical to the Dodge Durango and Honda Pilot. With 18.8-gallon fuel tank capacity, the combined range of 413 miles turned out to be one of the worst of the segment as the rivals came with bigger fuel tank capacity. The combined gas mileage reduces to 21 MPG if you get the AWD variant.

1/10 Solid Braking Performance

2023 Hyundai PalisadeHyundai

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade comes loaded with all the relevant braking features like ABS with EBD, brake assist, hill hold control, hill descent control, electric parking brake, and ventilated front rotors. The 13.4" front rotors and 12" rear rotors help to anchor this 4,389 lbs SUV quite easily too.

2023 Hyundai Palisade On The Movevia Hyundai

Stomp hard on the brake pedal from 60 MPH and the 2023 Hyundai Palisade could come to a complete halt in 126 feet. Do the same braking test in the Honda Pilot and you are looking at a 60-0 MPH braking distance of 129 feet. However, both the Kia Telluride and Chevrolet Traverse could do it in 120 feet.

Will 2023 Palisade have hybrid?

2023 Hyundai Palisade: No hybrid or electric power planned for this generation - Drive.

Will the Palisade be available in hybrid?

With Hyundai introducing three electrified powertrains in the Tucson and two electrified powertrains in the Santa Fe, many expect that the Palisade will receive an electrified powertrain as well. However, a company official has confirmed that the Hyundai Palisade Hybrid will not be launched in the foreseeable future.

Does the 2022 Hyundai Palisade come in a hybrid?

The Hyundai does not plan in the near future to make a hybrid version of the Palisade. If you are looking to save on gas, we recommend getting the Toyota Highlander Hybrid.
