I'm waiting for my quest 2 to arrive and I'm just wondering how the latency is for most people is when playing wireless PC VR games through Virtual Desktop. I mostly got this headset for PC VR [since it's so cheap compared to other headsets] and to show people VR since it's so portable but i'm worried that the latency will interfere with the gameplay quality.
The biggest factor that controls latency is how good your Internet/wifi setup is. Plus how strong your gaming PC is [esp. gpu]. You need to have your PC wired to a good modern 1Gigabit router and have good 5Ghz wifi as close by as possible, preferably in the same room. I suggest you join the Virtual Desktop discord channel for more information, including setup tips.
While you can now push VD bitrates up to 150mbps latency will increase when you increase this. Most find 80-100 gives the best overall results. Also depends how complex the PCVR game/sim is. For the most part I find 25-30ms latency works fine.
