Make sure you have the IP address of the DC you are pinging in the networking config for the computer you're trying to join to the domain.

If the network path is not found, then the computer probably does not have the Domain Controllers IP address in the networking setup. can you post ipconfig /all from the computer you cannot join to the domain? Is 192.168.1.202 the domain controller of the domain you are trying to join? If so, try disabling IPv6 on the computer, and try joining it to the domain. Once joined to the domain, re-enable the IPv6 on the network adapter.

Check Active Directory for a computer object with this pc's name. If it's there, delete it and try again.

Occasionally I have had this happen when using the NETBIOS domain name rather than the full domain, for example typing CONTOSA for the domain will return a not found message, but CONTOSA.COM will let the me join successfully. Or vice versa. Worth a try.

When specifying the domain name to join, are you using the FQDN or NetBIOS name? Try both.

Recently I had to add an entry in the host file of a Win10 PC in order for it to "find" the domain controller when joining, it would not find it any other way. (it works normally now though ... o_O) Was this post helpful? thumb_up thumb_down

Verify the port is working. Hook up another good computer and see it you get conductivity. If pass then- Hook the offending computer back on the port and: Change the driver to take DCHP If pass - revisit your ip reservation list If fail- check the NIC driver, add a secondary NIC card and test Was this post helpful? thumb_up thumb_down

Are you attempting to join the domain (suing my name as an example here) by typing "justin_mc" or by using the full domain name "justin_mc.justin.com"

I found with windows 10 and server 2016 you have to use the full domain name. Was this post helpful? thumb_up thumb_down

You could try setting your DNS Suffix manually before attempting to join. You should not have to normally but for the sake of Science!

Can you get to \\domain.com? Does it time out or ask for a password. Grasping at straws here but is your time relatively close to the time on the DC? Is there router (not a switch) between the machine you are attempting and the DC? Was this post helpful? thumb_up thumb_down
