I finally got around to trying out the Lirikos Deep Sea Waterfall Ampoule and Deep Sea Waterfall Cream samples, that I got last winter as part of a free sample set: Amore Pacific Skincare Haul I’ve previously written about the hydrating pulse line, and a few of the Lirikos sheet masks too, and will leave a link to those at the end of this post for anyone interested. I usually like to wait until I’ve used a product quite a few times before writing a review on it, but for these two samples, I’ve decided to do a first impression review based on two uses, and you’ll find out why in the ‘my thoughts’ section. As always, I’ll first talk about the product descriptions and ingredients of each of the products but you can skip down towards the ‘My Thoughts’ sections to read my personal review of them. Lirikos Deep Sea Waterfall Ampoule
Moisture sealing high moisturizing ampoule fills insufficient moisture and forms moisture protection film.
When I first applied this ampoule I liked the texture and consistency of it as it feels like a nice hydrating serum that isn’t too thick or too thin. The ampoule does have a fragrance, but it is not too strong. What I don’t like about this ampoule is that, although it glides on with a smooth slip and feels nice at first, it actually end up leaving a sticky residue on my skin that does not go away unless I wash it off. There’s also a visible shine to the areas where the product has been applied but it is more of a sticky film sort of shine rather than a healthy glow which I would have preferred. It even leaves a sticky feeling on my hands which I’m really not into. My fiance even commented on how sticky my skin feels – not great! Lirikos Deep Sea Waterfall Cream
Moisturizing gel-cream to replenish your skin with moisture. Lightweight gel-cream formula.
As soon as I opened the little sample jar of this cream, the product really reminded me of the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask: Review | Laneige Water Sleeping Mask In the jar, it looks paler in colour than the Laneige one but still has that bluish tint to it, and once I took the cream out it ended up looking and feeling quite similar. Both brands belong to Amore Pacific but the ingredients lists are slightly different, so it’s interesting that they are so similar. Just like the Laneige one, this Lirikos Deep Sea Waterfall Cream has a gel-cream consistency and feels light, smooth and slippery to touch, but leaves a sticky film behind on the skin which is much more noticeable and uncomfortable than the Laneige one. But unlike the Laneige water sleeping mask, this Lirikos cream is not a mask and is not meant to be washed off the next morning – even though it’s so sticky and I genuinely have the urge to splash my face and hands with water after using it. The Lirikos Deep Sea waterfall cream does have an artificial fragrance that could be sensitising for some. But it gets one plus point for not containing ethanol/ alcohol denat. Overall impressionFirstly, I really love the shade of blue that Lirikos have used for the packaging of this range – sort of a dusty blue colour. Secondly, but more importantly, what I don’t like about these products is that after using them just once, I noticed my skin felt quite sticky straight after and clogged the next day – I tried again a few days later and experienced the same thing. It even left my hands feeling sticky which is something I didn’t expect to feel. I was excited to try these out as they are award-winning products that seemed to be popular in Korea as they were often sold out at Olive Young, but honestly, I was disappointed by both. Although they sound like they could be lightweight products, I honestly don’t think they are suitable for people with acne-prone skin like myself. I would advise people with sensitive skin to do a patch test first before using these products on your face just in case. A member of staff in Olive Young previously recommended the Lirikos Marine Energy Calming Pure Water Toner for my skin type, which only contains 12 ingredients and is formulated “8-free” including no alcohol or fragrance – I haven’t tried it yet but I do have a sample so I will try it soon. It’s the last sample remaining from everything I got from Amore Pacific, so fingers crossed, and stay tuned for updates! |
