Its not altogether surprising; it generates a lot of data and puts a lot of pressure on your RAM. It doesnt help that it isnt the most well optimised of games, and has the drawback of being based in Java. Minecraft SteamThere is no Minecraft release on Steam, and there'll likely never be one. The game is either available as the 'Bedrock' edition through the Windows 10 store, or the Java version from Mojang's site. If you're an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you can also grab both versions for free via the Xbox app for Windows 10. Minecraft RTX system requirementsMinecraft has just released official RTX support after being in Beta since the spring. Of course, along with this are increased system requirements with Ray Tracing enabled. You'll need a minimum CPU equivalent to an Intel Core i5, an RTX 2060 GPU or better, and 8 GB of RAM. Minecraft 1.18 'Caves and Cliffs part 2' updateThe release of Minecraft's latest expansion, Cliffs and Caves part 2, is fast approaching, and Mojang recently revealed that work on the update is "almost done". Don't worry, though, as even though the 1.18 update brings a lot of changes, your old world seeds will still be compatible with the new version of the game. Mojang's extensive update includes various new additions to the game, including new biomes, terrain limits, an unsettling new mob type called 'The Warden', and new mechanics, like wireless Redstone. Minecraft's 1.18 Caves and Cliffs part 2 update is "coming within the next month or two", so watch this space! Can't wait until the update's official release? Why not check out the game's snapshot betas. Minecraft 1.19 'The Wild' updateMinecraft's upcoming update, The Wild, will bring lots of new content to Mojang's block-based survival game, including a major swamp overhaul that features new critters and consumables. By planting mangrove trees, you can harvest a new wood type, while biomes filled with the new foliage are also now part of the world map. If you're a fan of amphibians, you'll be pleased to know that frogs are also making their debut as denizens of Minecraft. Just like in real life, frogs start out as tadpoles before eventually transforming into either snowy, swamp, or tropical toads, which is determined by the biome they grow within. Of course, swamps are inherently swampy, so it's no surprise that you can also create mud by pouring water on dirt. Not only can the material be used to create mud blocks, but you can also place it on top of dripstone to draw out moisture and turn it into clay. Providing you're not a land lover, you might also benefit from The Wild's fancy new boats, which now come with storage chests. The update also widens the game's rivers, meaning it could be the perfect excuse to take your new vessel out for a spin. The Wild update will launch at some point in 2022.
