Cos De BAHA Niacinamide 20 review

Hello fellow AB enthusiasts!

I rarely see any reviews for the brand Cos De Baha, but after trying out a few of their stuff, I think they're a brand that deserves much more attention!

My skin type: Combo, occasionally breakouts, somewhat sensitive (especially to fragrance).

1. SNAIL MUCIN HYALURONIC ACID SERUM

Ingredients: Snail Secretion Filtrate (83%), Propanediol, Glycerin, Niacinamide (2%), 1,2-Hexanediol, Panthenol (1%) , Betaine, Sodium Hyaluronate (4000ppm), Beta Glucan,*Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract,Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate,Allantoin,Adenosine,*Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Leaf Extract, *Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, *Eucalyptus Globulus (Eucalyptus) Leaf Extract,*Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Extract, *Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos) Extract, Sodium Polyacrylate *Mark: Organic Ingredients.

Texture: Typical serum texture; lightly viscous clear liquid. Has a bit of that signature snail mucin sliminess/chewiness texture, but its definitely not goopy. (From what I've read, COSRX's snail mucin is more goopy and viscous)

Scent: No fragrance

My Experience: I've used this day and night and it definitely provides that instant hydration boost to the skin, especially when my skin is feeling rather tight. I've used a bottle of this and can say that it continuously performs well in the hydration department. In terms of its healing properties that snail mucin is expected to come with, I've used this during 2 angry allergy breakouts and it did help calm down some of the itchiness and redness. It did help speed up the healing process, but overtime ive noticed that even when I didn't use it, my skin was still healing well (likely due to my ceramide moisturiser).

Notable mentions: It is extremely affordable especially considering you're getting 120ml which lasted me about 3 months with consistent use. The ingredients list is also amazing, a lot of skin soothing and barrier repairing ingredients like panthenol and allantoin.

Overall rating: 7.5/10. A good hydration boost serum thats not too heavy or too light. Only wished it had more significant healing properties.

2. SALICYLIC ACID BHA 2% LIQUID

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Cocamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Salicylic Acid (2%), 1,2-Hexanediol, Propanediol, Niacinamide, Rosa Damascena Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia Flower Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Artemisia Vulgaris Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose

Texture: Very runny, almost like clear water.

Scent: No fragrance

My Experience: The GOOD STUFF. Freaked out over the 2% salicylic acid, because I've wanted to get the Paula's choice BHA exfoliant for sooo long. Could be a potential dupe but i don't have the Paulas choice one to compare. NONETHELESS, this stuff is IT. Over a period of 2-3 weeks, my pores reduced in size and I had fewer blackheads which were also smaller (area around my nose). PLUS, I've used this during the the breakouts I've previously mentioned, and this definitely sped up the recovery process. My pimples healed faster and became flatter too and I could see the difference the next morning. I must mention that if i use it too frequently (~4 times a week) my skin somewhat gets accustomed to it and the effects arent as pronounced. So i try to use it <3 times a week as a treatment for specific areas.

Notable mentions: Again, 120ml for its affordable price is a crazy steal. And you only really need 2 pumps or less! Been using it for 3 months and my bottle is still 70% full. I also love how the first ingredient is aloe extract, a tried and true soothing ingredient. I've never experienced sensitisation with this baby, even during my bad breakouts, unless you overdose and use >3 pumps, it should be okay! When i get hard and pesky pimples, i tend to pair it with a little 5% benzoyl peroxide or clindamycin. Not all skin types can take this concoction, but those pimples definitely get smaller the next morning. It is a must for me to slap on some skin soothing barrier repairing moisturiser if i do this, otherwise my skin can get red and irritated.

Overall rating: 10/10. A dream come true. They have a 4% 30ml salicylic acid serum as well and I might try that next!

3. GLYCOLIC ACID 10 AHA SERUM

Ingredients: Purified Water, Glycolic Acid (10%), Propanediol (From Non-Gmo Corn), Arginine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Leaf Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Extract, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Extract, Aspalathus Linearis Extract

Texture: Clear gel-like liquid with a medium viscousity, typical serum texture.

Scent: No fragrance

My Experience: GOOD. Does exactly what you expect an AHA to do: Exfoliate dead skin layers and give you glowy skin. It's a 10% concentration meant to use at night after toner. You only need 2-3 drops MAX. Greedy me used more than 3 drops last time and the next morning I woke up with red and irritated skin. Not good. This baby quite literally does the job. My skin is left with a glow everytime I've used this, and i can feel that new skin smoothness. In comparison with TO's AHA BHA 30% peeling solution, it's much gentler and doesn't sting my skin. The overall effect is comparable, both leave you with glowy exfoliated skin. I prefer this over the TO because it doesnt really sting and I only need to use a teensy bit. (i find that i need to use more with TO's because it doesnt spread as far).

Notable mentions: Once again, very affordable. I've used this for 3 months and my bottle is still 80% full. Do NOT use this together with salicyclic acid because it WILL irritate your skin. Also, don't oversleep with this on, it will overexfoliate and damage your skin's barrier (speaking from experience). However, when using this and the salicyclic acid exfoliant separately, my skin has never been better, you get the best of both worlds without irritation. I've read that for more sensitive skin types, some people just apply this for a few hours and wash it off and they find that it still works.

Overall rating: 10/10. Honestly, can't find a fault with this. Highly recommended.

Overall, I've been pretty impressed with this brand. I'm surprised it hasn't really been raved about in the skincare community, but hopefully I've provided some useful insights! Their ingredients list not only includes what is needed, but is almost always full of well known skin soothers with no fragrance added. AND its accessible (shopee, eBay) and affordable for most people. Here's to happy clear skin! cheers

Is 10% or 20% niacinamide better?

If a person's concerns are mostly around enlarged pores and uneven skin tone, the 10% strength is a great option. For those with more advanced concerns such as sagging pores, orange peel-like texture or oil-related bumps, the 20% strength is preferred.

What percentage of niacinamide is most effective?

"An effective product should have between 2 and 10 percent niacinamide," she explains. Dr. Allenby adds that products with niacinamide concentrations under 5 percent are especially well-tolerated.
